The climate-tech startup Sustainability Labs has partnered with the leading digital PR agency Good PR with the aim of introducing sustainability-based Events & PR to the Sri Lankan market.

Sustainability Labs strives to become a leading climate-tech startup, capable of providing end-to-end sustainability services and solutions that aim to calculate, reduce and offset. Currently, Sustainability Labs remains focused on Events and industries that aspire to create better, eco-friendly events, both in the physical and online world. The team works closely with clients to develop a comprehensive sustainability strategy that focuses on transforming an event’s sustainability aspects into achievable goals that deliver outstanding results. In the future, Sustainability Labs expects to explore local and regional opportunities in sustainability and to adopt data-driven sustainability solutions.

Based in Battaramulla, Sustainability Labs was co-founded in the middle of a pandemic by Rashmi Wickramaratne and Achala Fernando together with the team’s Project Lead Shani Weerasinghe. Both co-founders started their entrepreneurial journey by creating two separate startups – The Sustainability Agency founded by Achala and azolabs founded by Rashmi. The two dynamic individuals realized that their sustainability-focused ventures would have a far greater chance of making a positive, meaningful impact if they worked together and therefore they joined forced to create Sustainability Labs. By tapping into their knowledge acquired through their extensive qualifications and their in-depth understanding of all things related to sustainability, the trio is confident of demonstrating how Sri Lankan organizations can embrace sustainability in their day-to-day operations.

Rashmi Wickramaratne possesses a Masters in Environment Management from the University Of Colombo and a B.Sc. (Honours) Applied Sciences (extended year in Microbiology) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Achala Fernando has completed a BEng (Honours) Civil & Construction Engineering at Curtin University, Australia and an MSc Financial Mathematics (Reading) at the University of Colombo. Both have completed various ISO Consultant Development Programmes at the National Cleaner Production Centre that has further enhanced their knowledge and expertise in their field.

Rashmi Wickramaratne commented, “Teaming up with Good PR, a PR agency that aligns perfectly with our sustainability-focused approach is certainly a step in the right direction and clearly demonstrates that we are not alone in our quest to deliver sustainability-focused solutions to organizations around Sri Lanka. We are looking forward to working closely with Nevindee and her team so that together we can change the organizations carry out their events in the online and physical world.” Good PR is a digital PR Agency that combines local insights and the latest international practices to deliver class-leading Public Relations, Content Management, Digital Strategies and Event Management in Sri Lanka. Sharing her thoughts on the partnership,

As a young, progressive PR agency, we have always believed in sustainability and have adopted a sustainable approach in the way we carry out our operations. Therefore, this partnership with the Sustainability Labs is a perfect match. When it comes to Good PR operations, unlike large PR agencies and event managers, we are able to give personal attention to our clients and offer them solutions that meet their individual needs and requirements. We provide a comprehensive range of services that allow organizations to reach their target audiences through myriad channels while delivering a message that is consistent and compelling.”
