The SOS Children’s Village is a global initiative, begun in Austria, to provide a homely environment for children affected by war, and other socioeconomic challenges. Sri Lanka currently has 6 SOS Children’s Villages located in Galle, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Monaragala, Nuwara-Eliya, and Piliyandala, with over 40 years of service in the country. The villages recreate a family-like environment for the children, complete with a home, and community. They consist of houses, each with a SOS mother who has 7 to 10 children under her care, until the children reach 18 years of age.

“Spa Ceylon is deeply committed to giving back to our country and towards its next generation. Working with children is something we consider very seriously. When searching for an organisation to work with in this regard, that aligns with our values and ethos, we found that in the SOS Children’s Village”, said Spa Ceylon Co-Founder and Group Director, Shalin Balasuriya. “The beautiful family structure they provide for all children in each village, is such an extraordinary gift. As we move forward with this partnership, we will look at what more we can do to positively impact the next generation, both in terms of the village, and the country as well”, Balasuriya said further.

Spa Ceylon Co-Founder and Managing Director Shiwantha Dias also shared his thoughts at the occasion: “At Spa Ceylon, we have a deep love and commitment to the well-being of our community, country, planet and fellow beings. We have extended this commitment to every aspect of our business practices. Our partnership with SOS Children’s Villages is aligned with our conscious well-being philosophy, where we continue to uplift our communities, ensuring they are empowered to lead a good life”, he said.
