Maliban is a brand cherished by Sri Lankans for generations, with a legacy spanning seventy years of quality and trust. Today, Maliban is not only a household name in Sri Lanka but also a brand recognized and respected internationally. Staying true to the vision of its founder, A.G. Hinni Appuhamy, to provide “the best things to children”, Maliban has always been committed to nurturing young minds and fostering creativity.

So, for its 70th anniversary, Maliban, in line with that vision, launched the first “Goodness – Delicious Paintings” Art Competition last October, coinciding with World Children’s Day. The competition gave young artists across the country a chance to freely express their creativity for over three months. More than 20,000 paintings were received via post, WhatsApp, and other online channels, demonstrating the incredible enthusiasm and talent of Sri Lanka’s children. After an extensive and impartial judging process, a panel of esteemed experts selected seventy of the most vibrant and creative paintings, celebrating the originality and imagination of the young artists.
Fulfilling its promise to showcase these remarkable artworks, Maliban unveiled the winning entries in a historic celebration coinciding with Sri Lanka’s 77th Independence Day. On this special day, everyone gathered at Colombo City Hall to witness a groundbreaking moment—the first laser-projected art exhibition in Sri Lanka. This innovative display transformed the children’s paintings into an immersive and visually stunning experience, giving them a unique platform to showcase their talent in a way never seen before.

Not only that, but many thousands more joined the celebration via live stream on Maliban’s Facebook and YouTube pages, allowing families and well-wishers from across Sri Lanka – and the world—to be part of this extraordinary event. The initiative went beyond recognising artistic talent in that it was a broader tribute to the power of creativity and the importance of nurturing self-expression in children, enabling them to reach their full potential.
The event highlighted the importance of encouraging children to dream and express their creativity. It provided a platform for young talents to showcase their artwork, making the celebration on Independence Day even more meaningful. This occasion, which transcends cultural and social boundaries in Sri Lanka, brought together creativity and community spirit. The competition served as an opportunity to inspire children and celebrate their boundless imagination, aligning with the vision of giving the best experiences to the younger generation. The event was a true reflection of creativity, community support, and the joy of nurturing future talent.
Backed by a heritage of over seventy years, Maliban has set the benchmark for quality, safety, and taste in Sri Lanka’s food manufacturing industry. The company is one of the few manufacturers to hold ISO 22000 certification for food safety management, and the only biscuit manufacturer in Sri Lanka to receive accredited carbon footprint certification under the ISO 14064-1:2018 Standard from the Sri Lanka Climate Fund. Having received multiple National Quality Awards and other global accolades, Maliban products are now enjoyed in over 50 countries, including highly regulated markets such as the UK, USA, Australia, and the EU. As the company continues to innovate and grow, it remains committed to its core values of quality, sustainability, and excellence, ensuring that Maliban products – and the Maliban name – are trusted by consumers worldwide.
