The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka proudly announces the official launch of the CareerOne Career Platform (www.careerone.gov.lk), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming career guidance and employment services in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector.
Funded under a 6 million USD initiative of Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) (2023-2026), this project has successfully progressed beyond its Master Plan phase, incorporating the needs and requirements of TVEC and various TVET institutions across Sri Lanka. The CareerOne platform has been developed to streamline career counseling services, enhance job matching, and support skill development among students and job seekers nationwide.
As part of the initiative, capacity-building training sessions were conducted for Career Guidance Officers (CGOs) to ensure effective platform utilization. In July and August 2024, a total of six weeks of training sessions were held over three days, strengthening the capabilities of CGOs in providing comprehensive career guidance. Additionally, in January 2025, a one-day platform user training was conducted to further enhance user proficiency.
On February 7, 2025, a video conference was held with CGOs from all 70 participating institutions, providing an opportunity to discuss platform utilization, share best practices, and address any operational concerns. This virtual gathering fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among career guidance professionals, ensuring the successful integration of CareerOne into institutional career services.
The project also extended training to key institutional stakeholders, including DTET, VTA, Univotec, and TVEC IT administrators, ensuring seamless implementation and technical support for the CareerOne platform.
In a significant step towards digital transformation, 70 project target institutes received essential IT equipment, including laptops, wireless mice, headsets, and 4G SIM USB dongles, to facilitate efficient career counseling services. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art server room has been established on the third floor of TVEC to provide a robust infrastructure supporting the platform’s operations.
With the launch of CareerOne, Sri Lanka takes a bold step toward enhancing career guidance accessibility and bridging the gap between vocational training and employment opportunities. This platform is expected to play a pivotal role in empowering students, job seekers, and career guidance professionals, contributing to the country’s workforce development and economic growth.
