Standard Chartered appoints Chamath Athulathmudali as Financial Controller

Standard Chartered Sri Lanka has appointed Chamath Athulathmudali as Financial Controller, effective 1 February 2025.

In his new role, Chamath will join the Sri Lanka Country Management Team and oversee the Bank’s Finance function, while implementing robust performance management and reporting frameworks for the franchise.

A seasoned finance professional with over 19 years of experience in Banking & Finance, Chamath brings extensive expertise to this critical position. His journey with Standard Chartered extends over 11 years, during which he has held several senior positions, most recently leading the Business Finance team. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, he has had a 5-year stint in the Middle-East. His appointment highlights the Bank’s commitment to nurturing and promoting internal talent.

Commencing his career as a Software Engineer, Chamath brings a unique blend of technical and financial acumen to the new role. He is currently an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He also holds a Master’s degree from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester Metropolitan, UK. He combines professional qualifications with practical expertise in key areas of Finance.
