The eagerly-anticipated Final Round of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) was live-streamed on Facebook on 6th May 2021. Dilanka Sanjaya, who was representing Sri Lanka, competed for the grand prize of US$25000 by making it to the finals of the competition. He competed against representatives from USA, Ireland, Turkey, Panama and Mexico amongst many other countries. The 2021 Global Student Entrepreneur Awards brings the most exceptional student entrepreneurs from around the world on one platform to compete in the 2021 GSEA Global Finals. GSEA is the premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending college or university. Representing Sri Lanka as the GSEA Global finals, Dilanka Sanjaya is the founder of FONIX Software Solutions, a leading performer in providing quality web and software development solutions in the competitive global marketplace. Founded in 1998 by Saint Louis University, GSEA is now an Entrepreneurs’ Organization programme, supporting student entrepreneurs who seek global exposure, recognition and connections to take their businesses to the next level of success. The Sri Lankan leg of the GSEA was organized by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Sri Lanka in partnership with Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing life insurer, Softlogic Life. Other partners such as Hatch, AIESEC and the Lanka Angel Network Also contributed to make the event a success. The aim of EO Sri Lanka is to fuel budding entrepreneurs so that they go on to establish businesses and scale up. The awards were instituted to inspire and ignite a culture of entrepreneurship among students and young people in Sri Lanka. The Corporate Sponsor for the awards was Softlogic Life.
