JAT Holdings PLC concluded the inaugural JAT Golf Classic in fine style, marking a sophisticated new chapter in the company’s engagement with the sporting community. Held over two days at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), the event brought together over 275 members of one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious sporting institutions for a tournament that blended sporting prowess with refined living.

Organised through the JAT Holdings Furnishing business vertical, the tournament was a celebration of performance, design, and lifestyle, values that define both the sport of golf and JAT’s premium interior offerings. The awards ceremony, held at the conclusion of the tournament, was a graceful and elevated affair, reflecting the sophistication of the event and the brand behind it.

Aelian Gunawardena, Managing Director of JAT Holdings PLC, addressed the gathering at the awards night, stating: “At JAT, our goal is to not only bring world-class brands to Sri Lanka but also to bring experiences that elevate the way you live and work. Whether it’s ergonomic excellence from Herman Miller at the office or seamless, design-driven kitchens from SEAFORM and OPPEIN at home, these aren’t just products. They’re investments in a lifestyle where luxury and performance are part of everyday.”
The tournament honoured 27 division winners, recognising standout performances across multiple categories, with over 33 million rupees in gifts and prizes. Among the most coveted accolades of the evening was the ‘Hole-in-One’, a challenge known for its near-mythical difficulty in the world of golf.
In a truly remarkable moment, Manjula Chandrasoma, an exceptional golfer, achieved this rare feat, earning not only the admiration of his peers but also the tournament’s most luxurious prize: the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, designed in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, it is one of the most iconic and enduring pieces of modern furniture design. Instantly recognisable and widely admired, it has become a status symbol in design, architecture, and film culture. Celebrated in design magazines, featured on the silver screen, and showcased in institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Eames Lounge is more than furniture — it’s a cultural icon and a lasting emblem of innovation and refined taste.
K.K. Bombugalage was recognised as the Overall Champion of the tournament, and was presented with the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, a globally renowned symbol of ergonomic innovation and performance. Special prizes were awarded for Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, with winners receiving Herman Miller gift vouchers.
With this tournament, JAT Holdings has not only cemented its connection to a sport rooted in tradition and precision but has also reasserted its commitment to curating elevated lifestyle experiences through its furnishing arm.
Through global partnerships with design leaders such as Herman Miller, SEAFORM, and OPPEIN, JAT Furnishing continues to bring international quality and inspired living to Sri Lanka.
