Mack Air, one of Sri Lanka’s leading General Sales Agents (GSA), proudly celebrated its 45th anniversary on the 7th of February 2025. The event, attended by the leadership of the John Keells Group Transportation Sector and the Mack Air team, was a testament to the company’s remarkable journey and its commitment to fostering strong relationships within the aviation sector.
Among the attendees at the celebration were Zafir Hashim, President – Transportation & Plantations Sectors of the John Keells Group, Shaminda Fernando, CEO of Mack Air, and Farooq Bhatti, Country Manager of Gulf Air. Speaking at the event, the three leaders shared their perspectives on Mack Air’s legacy and its vision for the future.
Reflecting on Mack Air’s journey, Shaminda Fernando emphasised the company’s steady growth since its inception in 1980. “From humble beginnings, we have evolved into the leading GSA in Sri Lanka, representing 12 internationally renowned airlines. This achievement is a result of the unwavering dedication and hard work of our incredible team at Mack Air. Their commitment has been instrumental in building the reputation we hold today.”
Addressing the gathering, Zafir Hashim underscored the importance of partnerships in driving long-term success. “At Mack Air, relationships come before financial gain. This commitment to building strong, lasting partnerships is evident not just here, but across all companies within the John Keells Group Transportation Sector. This principle has enabled Mack Air to grow and maintain its standing in the aviation industry.”
Mack Air’s first airline partnership was with Gulf Air, a relationship that has stood the test of time for over four decades. Acknowledging this milestone, Farooq Bhatti commended the partnership. “Gulf Air has been incredibly happy with Mack Air, and there is no better testament to this than the fact that we have been together since the very beginning. Our relationship remains as strong as ever, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.”
