In an effort to foster environmental responsibility among the youth of Sri Lanka, Neptune Recyclers has officially launched Neptune EduCycle, an outreach programme aimed at schools and universities across the country. Neptune EduCycle is designed to drive a nationwide cultural shift in plastic waste management, starting with the youth.

It is a structured, activity-based initiative designed to deliver engaging and interactive learning experiences focused on the recycling of PET plastic bottles. The goal is to encourage daily recycling habits among young people. Neptune EduCycle aims to inspire students to become sustainability ambassadors at school, home and in their communities.

The launch of the initiative follows the successful completion of interactive sessions at Ahungalla Rajapaksha School, Ananda College, Colombo 10, Balapitiya Technical College and The Faculty of Medicine at The University of Kelaniya. These pilot sessions received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with students demonstrating enthusiasm and a strong commitment to waste segregation, plastic recycling, and broader sustainable practices.

The programme was developed to help young minds understand the lifecycle of plastic waste and the environmental impact of PET bottles. These hands-on sessions are designed to shift mindsets and cultivate behavioural changes in how students manage plastic waste, at home, at school and around their communities. By inspiring a sense of ownership and responsibility, Neptune EduCycle is laying the groundwork for a generation that views sustainability as a shared mission rather than a chore.

Neptune Recyclers invites collaboration from educators, school and university administrators, parents, CSR teams, government institution, NGOs, and the media. Each of these stakeholders plays a vital role in amplifying Neptune EduCycle’s message and spreading across the country. For CSR teams and corporate sustainability leaders, the initiative offers a meaningful and highly impactful opportunity to contribute to environmental education and community engagement. For educators, it is a gateway to instil lifelong values in students.

Neptune Recyclers is reputed for its deep commitment to sustainable waste management. The company envisions the programme as much more than just and educational initiative, but as the beginning of an empowering journey, in which students lead the way, inspiring peers and communities and laying the foundation for a cleaner, greener Sri Lanka.

As Neptune EduCycle enters its next phase, Neptune Recyclers remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding the reach of the initiative, scaling its curriculum and forging partnerships to create more impact. The company truly believes that education, engagement and empowerment, are key to creating sustainable nation.
