People’s Leasing contributes to improve the Solid Waste Management at Mirisawetiya Temple premises in Anuradhapura

People’s Leasing & Finance PLC (PLC) has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by providing assistance to streamline the waste segregation at Mirisawetiya Temple premises in Anuradhapura by donating waste segregation units recently. This initiative, part of the company’s broader CSR efforts, aims to promote environmental sustainability and cleanliness at these sacred sites.

The installed waste segregation units were handover to the Chief Incumbent of the Mirisawetiya Temple, Rev.Welihene Sobhitha Thero by the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of PLC, Mr.Sanjeewa Bandaranayake in order to hand over to the general public.

Mr.Neil Thusantha, Assistant General Manager – Branch Network, Mr.Susil Priyantha – Chief Manger of Branch Network, Mr.Saranga Dissanayake ,Branch Manager of Anuradhapura Branch of PLC and several other representatives from PLC Anuradhapura Branch and all of whom played a role in the successful execution of this initiative were also presented at this event. The project serves as yet another example of PLC’s commitment towards creating a positive social impact and assisting in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Chief Incumbent of the Mirisawetiya Temple, Rev.Welihene Sobhitha Thero, expressed his gratitude for the timely intervention, highlighting the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the sites. He noted that the donation of waste bins would go a long way in preserving the area’s environment while respecting the cultural and religious significance of these sacred sites.

Commenting on the CSR initiative, Mr.Sanjeewa Bandaranayake – CEO/GM of  PLC said that, “We understand the importance of safeguarding both the environment and our cultural heritage. This project reflects our deep respect for Sri Lanka’s religious and historical sites, and we remain committed to contributing meaningfully to the welfare of the communities we serve. By supporting this effort, we aim to inspire others to join in the effort to preserve the sanctity of these sacred places.”

This initiative was originated as a result of a joint request made to the Branch Manager of PLC Anuradhapura Branch Mr. Saranga Dissanayake, by the Chief Incumbent of the Mirisawetiya Temple. Accordingly, the project aims to support the protection and preservation of these sacred sites, ensuring they remain clean and pristine for future generations.
