Star Garments Group (“Star”) emerged victorious at the recently held SLITAD People Development Awards for 2023/24, clinching a coveted Gold award in recognition of its continued efforts in embracing some of the best-in-class human capital practices, setting new benchmarks in Sri Lanka’s apparel industry.
Organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Training & Development (SLITAD), the 5th edition of the People Development Awards was held on the 04th of August at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, bringing together and celebrating organizations championing HRD practices that contribute to the growth of their people and the nation.

Star Garments is today a catalyst in the growth of Sri Lanka’s apparel sector with over four decades of experience. It recently also expanded its operations to West Africa, with plans underway to build a large-scale apparel export manufacturing factory in Togo backed by USD 15 million financing package by IFC, which will go on to provide around 4,520 direct and indirect jobs.
