Unleash Global (Pvt) Ltd officially launched its unique combat sports promotion brand “Unleash” opening a brand new chapter in Sri Lankan combat sport history.
Unleash will focus on grappling, Muay Thai, and MMA and aims to put Sri Lanka on the global map as a serious contender for combat sport. It was designed to bridge a longstanding gap in Sri Lanka’s sporting scene – creating a professional platform that nurtures local fighters, builds international exposure, and reshapes the nation’s perception of combat sport.
Its inaugural event, Unleash Absolute Warriors Season 1, took place on June 14 at the Royal MAS Arena, Colombo, featuring 28 fighters across 14 high-octane bouts, including contenders from Sri Lanka, India, and Uzbekistan. Local athletes representing cities like Colombo, Jaffna, Galle, and Kurunegala will take center stage, demonstrating the island’s deep and diverse talent pool.
Unleash was created by four individuals with a passion for combat sports. They include Kasun de Silva (undefeated MMA fighter with global credentials), Prashantha Wanigasuriya (veteran entrepreneur), Shamail Annam (strategist), and Shazeen Annam (MMA advocate).
Sharing his views, Kasun de Silva stated, “Unleash is more than a company: it’s a cultural reset. This isn’t just about fights – it’s about creating a movement of discipline, transformation, and opportunity for talented Sri Lankans who want to make their mark in the world of combat sport. With the global industry valued at over USD 9 billion, the time is ripe for Sri Lanka to tap into its share. With a mission to shift youth culture from ‘Screen Time to Gym Time’ Unleash is set to become a powerful force in both sport and society in Sri Lanka.”
Plans were also revealed for the expansion of Unleash, with Season 2 to be held in January 2026 in Sri Lanka, and Season 3 being planned for India, underscoring the initiative’s regional ambitions.
